Gardening Supervisor                     

Hexham

Salary: £9.36 per hour

Hours: 2-3 days/wk (winter) increasing to 4-5 days/wk (Spring) subject to workload

As part of our planned expansion, we are looking for a Gardening Supervisor to join our caring and dynamic team, which is working to improve  the lives of people with learning disabilities and poor mental health. The ideal candidate will help develop our volunteers’ skills, while maintaining and improving customers’ gardens and grounds.

Hextol Gardening Service

One of our key services is gardening, and we have teams running from both our Hexham and Newcastle bases, working for customers across the Tyne Valley. The teams at both sites provide gardening services to domestic customers, schools, and other institutions.  Staff work with teams of volunteers to carry out this work, which includes garden maintenance, soft-landscaping, design and improvement. 

We are planning the development and expansion of our existing Hexham based service and are therefore seeking an additional Gardening Supervisor.

Hextol Tans Kitchen/Front of House Supervisor Post

Hexham

Salary: £9.36 per hour

Hours: 26 hours per week across 4 days (to include Saturdays)

The Hextol Tans Café opened in 2016 and has grown in popularity as a result of the quality of food and service we provide.

We open 6 days a week Monday – Saturday, our normal trading hours are 10am-3.30pm.  

The Tans is a vegetarian/vegan café where we provide working opportunities to our beneficiaries with learning disabilities and/or poor mental health.

We are recruiting an individual with the skills and flexibility to work in both the kitchen and front of house. The role will require the ability to run both the kitchen and front of house and on any given day will be responsible for one or the other area.

The working hours will be 9.30am-4pm and responsibilities include: cooking food to order and running the kitchen maintaining the Tans hard won reputation for quality food and service; following all health, safety and hygiene guidelines; running front of house; handling cash and card payments; keeping the café clean and tidy; and supporting and supervising our beneficiaries. 

We are looking for an individual who has catering experience or a keen interest in cooking, able to multitask, work as part of a team, is enthusiastic, friendly, hardworking and responsible and who would make a real and tangible difference to the lives of our beneficiaries. Commitment to the welfare and development of our beneficiaries is as important in the role as catering ability.

Previous front of house experience and/or experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions would be preferable but is not essential.
