Hextol Tans Kitchen Supervisor

Hexham, St Mary’s Chare
Hours: 13 Hours/wk over 2 days (to include some Saturdays)

Salary: £12.04 per hour
We are looking for someone to join our caring and dynamic team, which is working to change the lives of people with learning difficulties and mental health needs. The supervisors in Hextol Tans help develop our volunteers’ skills, whilst running the café.

The Tans Cafe
The Hextol Tans Café is a vegetarian/vegan café which opened in 2016 and has grown in popularity as a result of the high quality of food and service we provide.
We open 6 days a week Monday – Saturday, our normal trading hours are 10am-3.30pm.
The role
We have a vacancy for an additional supervisor to join our Hextol team running the kitchen two days per week.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with enthusiasm, dedication, the desire to help others, and a genuine interest in vegetarian and vegan food to provide a high quality of customer service.
The successful applicant will be working to make real and tangible differences to the lives of our beneficiaries. Commitment to the welfare and development of our beneficiaries is as important in the role as cooking ability.

Job Description
Purpose of the job
Working as part of a team to provide a high standard of vegetarian/vegan food, whilst training and supporting our beneficiaries with learning difficulties and/or mental health needs to develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem.
The role will require the ability to run the kitchen, making food to order whilst supporting our beneficiaries.
Lines of responsibility
Directly responsible to the Hextol Tans Manager.
Main Duties
•Running catering kitchen; making high quality vegetarian dishes, soups, cakes etc .
•Provide supervision, support and guidance to beneficiaries to develop their skills.
•Ensuring that work is carried out safely; and that all health & safety regulations are followed.
•Working with the Hextol CEO and Hextol Tans Manager to develop the business; promote new ideas and improve effectiveness.
•Contributing to beneficiaries’ reviews, risk assessments and learning plans.
•Carry out routine administration as required.

Skills/qualities/values
Essential:
•Catering experience or is a keen cook with an interest in vegetarian/vegan food.
•Is enthusiastic, willing to learn, self-motivated, friendly, approachable and able to work as part of a team.
•Has a positive and encouraging manner and can create an enjoyable, nurturing and safe working atmosphere for our beneficiaries.
•Shows respect for everyone they work with.
•Has a flexible approach to the role, able to adapt as required.
•Would represent us in a way that inspires confidence and trust.
•Gains satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure for adults and children.
Desirable:
•Level 2/3 Food and Hygiene (training to this level will be available).
•Has experience of supervising others.
•Experience of working in a catering kitchen/café/restaurant.
•Has worked with or lived with people with a learning disability/poor mental health, although this is not essential as training will be given.
•Has teaching or coaching skills or experience.

Gardening Services Manager

We are looking for a Gardening Services Manager who will lead our caring and dynamic
gardening teams, which are working to improve the lives of people with learning
difficulties and mental health needs and providing excellent service to our customers.
The ideal candidate will manage and support our gardening supervisors, whilst ensuring
the continued success of our professional gardening service. This job would suit a
professional or experienced gardener with good horticultural knowledge, an interest in
the management of people and operations and a desire to use gardening as a means of
improving the lives of our beneficiaries.

Hextol Gardening Service

One of our key enterprises is a high-quality gardening service, where we have teams
consisting of paid Gardening Supervisors working alongside and mentoring our beneficiaries.
The teams provide an excellent service to domestic and commercial customers and schools
in Hexham and the Tyne valley.
Our work includes garden maintenance, soft-landscaping, design, and improvement. We
also provide bespoke projects including running allotments in schools and community
gardens in care homes.
We are seeking a Gardening Services Manager to develop & manage our gardening service.
